Douliana is a traditional village, West part of Crete
near the International Airport CHQ, only 22 km. from the city of Chania
This village (among 300 of all for Greece) was awarded the title of National preservation place of beauty, keeping agriculture as a major activity as always has be. Several of the old houses have been restored and traditional farming around gives the note according to seasons.
There are two tavernas with Cretan traditional cuisine, and a mini market with local products.
From here you walk or drive to sandy beaches of Almirida and Kalives (3-4 kms), through a magnificent olive and cypress forest, or call a taxi although hire car is recommended.
In these villages are also shopping, ATM, rent a car, news papers and general amenities.

DOULIANA dream 1, is part of two annexed houses, with sharing swimming pool and garden. Estimated to have been built 2 centuries ago by a rich landowner, this is the place where had the main storehouse for all the agricultural products of his lands.

We had a lovely apartment, spacious and cool (air con is great!), huge double room above living (and kids’ sleeping) space. Quiet village, not at all ‘touristy’, and a really peaceful place to stay. We had a terrace outside the bedroom, great spot to sit in the evening and watch the sun set over Souda bay. Ground floor terrace with patio furniture, lovely spot to eat (although apartment cooking facilities are very limited – don’t stay here if you’re the sort who loves to cook on holiday!). Clean, sheets and towels were changed about every 3 days, washing machine in communal office area.
Friendly owner who responded very quickly to text messages about minor issues. Pool was larger than we expected, very clean and well maintained with plenty of loungers and umbrellas. Lovely setting, well maintained and lots of flowers around so very pretty.
Excellent, good value family-run taverna right next door – some quiet music in the evening, but won’t disturb (except the night we were there and they had a very noisy wedding reception until the small hours!!). Our boys (10 and 13) loved it, especially the pool. Easily reached from Crete’s (one!) main road and a very easy drive to many local attractions (beaches, ancient sites, lovely city of Chania, lake Kournas – fantastic pedalos and kayaks, excellent taverna, glass making in Kokkino Xoria, lovely local villages – small folk museum in Gavalochori is worth a look). Our first time on Crete, but will definitely go back to this place!
Very nice set of rental quiet and very well maintained Did appreciated the pool ideal location for a good discovery of the region warm welcome …. not to mention the charming tavern throw Excellent stay.

House Dream 1 is a beautiful old building in the nice little village of Douliana. We have been here for almost two weeks and liked almost everything about the house and the village. The house is spacious and clean. The terasse and the pool are beautiful and you can find a space with shade or sun all day long. The house was cleaned every three days. Towels and sheets have been changeld also.
We have been here with our little daughter and Koustoula organized a cot and a chair for the baby, wich was great! The little Cafenion is extremely charming and the taverna at the end of the town is really great, so we spent a lot of days just staying in Douliana.
The small village of Douliana is located far up in the olive groves, idyllic and peaceful. Nice surroundings, but required with vehicles from the first moment. The host is welcoming, we arrived in the middle of the night and that was fine. We also had to keep the apartment all day when we had a late departure home.
Clean and nice apartment, enough towels for use in the pool and shower, we only had beach towels with us from home. The pool was large enough for a morning dip, and cooling off. Sun loungers right outside, and a small breakfast porch with table and chairs.
The apartment was cleaned in the middle of our stay when we were there for a week, plus for that. Access to washing machine was also nice. We had dinner at the tavern directly opposite the apartment, convenient and cozy. If you want more variety in the dining options, you must have a car and travel to Kalyves or another city. With a little better planning on our part, we will gladly return to this place.
