We had 12 wonderful days in the little house at the “end of the world” near Ravdoucha. Everything was so idyllic, every little place had its own charm. Absolute privacy in the garden under shady trees. In the house there was everything you needed and the fridge was filled with wonderful fruits and vegetables when we arrived.
Even everything you need for breakfast has been thought of. Every wish was fulfilled immediately. The private bathing area was the absolute highlight. We were lovingly looked after by Eleni even in German. If you are looking for relaxation far away from the hustle and bustle of tourists and beautiful nature, this is the place for you. We definitely want to come back. It was very difficult for us to say goodbye. Thanks so much! Dita and Rainer

“I’m almost shy about saying how amazing this place is in case it gets booked up forever! We were welcomed with a fridge full of homegrown vegetables, olive oil and wine. Eleni (Nikos’ daughter who speaks English) was welcoming, responsive and helpful. The outside space is actually even better than the photos, with more little seating spaces down the terraces and an outdoor kitchen in the courtyard which was great for cooking fresh local fish.
I guess the only gambles are what neighbours you get, since the outdoor space is shared, but there is so much space this isn’t really a problem and we met some lovely people. There are two tavernas and two beaches within walking distance, one 5 mins away with a protected sandy/pebbly beach which is undeveloped and quiet and another maybe 30-40 mins walk away with pebbles and rocks, hammocks and deckchairs.
The whole area is very quiet (in end of Sept anyway), the apartment is at the end of the tarmac road and 1 minute along a rough but manageable dirt road (which stops at the apartment parking spaces!), with just mountains beyond. It was quite windy when we stayed at the end of the summer season, so the water was quite wavy and not clear, but still warm.
The nearest shop is about 15 minutes drive away, so you do need a car and I advise buying food beforehand so you can just sink into this beautiful, secluded place.”

“Wonderful site – host friendly and helpful”
The place is a little paradise and our host nikos was very, very nice and helpful no matter what….
Good for snorkeling
This is the best beach for snorkeling that I’ve come across in Crete. It is pebbly, so water is very clear. Entering the water on the far left side, you will come across some corals. Then if you swim to the left by the cliffs, you will pass by what seems to be an underwater cave, and if you continue swimming ~400 m you will get to something that looks like an abandoned quarry that has some underwater wreckage. The beach is very uncrowded and has some natural shade.

Away from crowded famous places in the beautiful and wild Spatha peninsula.
The Spatha peninsula is largely inhabited and if you wanna escape from the crowd and mess of the most renowed places you’ll find lonely, although less equipped, places.
Ravdoucha is a tiny village on the top of a hill, from where a steep and narrow dead-end road goes down to the beaches. A smaller one is a mix of rocks and terrain, here and there somehow muddy, with a few free sun beds and umbrellas and a shower, facing a small bay of crystal water protected by a pier.
A second one is totally rocky and, besides a natural pool, faces a wider front of more open sea. A small church in the rock lays on the road between the two beaches. The uphill land to the extreme tip of the peninsula and the Monastery of Ioanni Gkionas and Agios Pavlos Monastery and beach is of breathtaking wilderness and beauty.
